Colleague mentioned RAMS in a recent meeting on product safety. Looked at BIS website but not sure what impact that will have on my products (Electrical and Toys). Can somebody summarise for me?
😕

This is an acronym meaning 'Requirements for Accreditation and Market Surveillance'. It's related to the New Legal Framework' Regulation EC 765/2008 and its supporting EC Decision 768/2008/EC. These EC laws are binding on EU Member States and they concern the marketing of products. Essentially they provide a common framework for market surveillance, accreditation of test houses, rules for CE Marking and the control of products imported from third countries. They clarify the liability for importers and manufacturers of products and give customs at port of entry more powers. When own-branding, the products must include certain information on packaging for traceability. Sample testing must take
place and technical documentation must be reviewed and continuously updated. Regulation EC 765/2008 came into effect from 1 January 2010.

Where can I find the granular requirements? Is there a website or paper published?

I would suggest following these links:

In my opinion this system is an extremely useful tool to help manage ever increasingly complicated legislative requirements
